Story:
In October 1988, Bill Dunbar gives his six-year-old brother, George, a paper sailboat. Georgie drives the small town along the ferry’s rainy streets, and is disappointed when it goes down a stormy name. As he tries to retrieve it, Georgie sees a clown in the deep water, who introduces himself as Pennywise.
The smirk urges Georgie to come closer, then his arm tightly pulls him into the dirty coconut. Next summer, Bill and his friends – Richie Touzier, Eddie Kaspbark, and Stan Yurts – stare at the old bully Henry Bowers and his gang. Bill, still upset over Georgie’s disappearance and the resulting neglect from his grieving parents, discovers that his brother’s body may have been washed away in a swampy land called Berens.
He recruits his friends to investigate, believing that his brother is still alive. Ben Hanscom learns that the city is filled with centuries of tragedy and the disappearance of children. He is targeted by a group of Bowers, after which he joins the Bears and meets with the Bulls’ group. They find a lost girl’s sneaker, while Patrick Hockstetter, a member of the pursuing Bowers Gang, is killed by Pennywise while searching for a banner for Ben.
